An estimated 30 million North Americans turn to tanning salons as a controlled alternative to outdoor tanning. As we become increasingly aware of the benefits associated with regular exposure to sunlight and of the importance of managing the risks that can be associated with sunburn and overexposure, more people are turning to indoor tanning facilities to help attain their tans in a controlled environment scientifically designed to minimize the risk of sunburn.

Indoor tanning . . . Smarter than ever!
Friday, December 12th, 2008How to get the best tan!
Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008At Glamour Tans, we use science to our advantage to get you the best tan possible! We have four different levels of tanning beds at our salon. Each has a different percentage of UVB and UVA light. UVB light stimulates melanin, while UVA light turns the melanin brown once it is stimulated. When you first start tanning, we give you a skin type analysis to help us determine how many minutes you should tan. We will then put you in a bed with a higher percentage of UVB light. This gives your tan a “jump start” by stimulating your melanin. After a couple of tans in this bed, your melanin is stimulated enough to put you in a different bed. We will then have you tan in a bed that has more UVA light. This turns the stimulated melanin brown very quickly. By using this method, you get your base tan much faster and your tan lasts longer as well. For more infomation about how the skin tans, you can visit the Tanning Truth website
